The Blog Begins

So, we’ve completed our first session with our blogging expert Sue Waters. Where do I even start? This was a whirlwind session and I always felt as though I was one step behind. But nevertheless, we made it through and I now have my own blog and am beginning the quest to discover how to use it. I was and still am to a degree, a blogging skeptic, however after today I am already beginning to see the versatility of this innovation. It is a very effective means of communication, a medium for the expression of ones opinions and personal voice and is an efficient method for the sharing of information. I can see that the application in the classroom could potentially be quite an effective learning tool. I have learnt a lot from todays session and am excited at the thought of getting a better grasp on the complex world of bloggers.

Welcome

Hi…my name is Sarah, I am 20 years old and I am a 2nd year Education student at Curtin University, in Western Australia. I chose teaching because I feel it is one of the few careers that actually provides an opportunity to invest in the next generation.

I am currently undertaking a unit called, Using Computers in the Classroom, and as part of this we are creating our own online blog, to use as a reflective tool. We are going to be learning about various innovative technologies, and at the end of each tutorial we will be posting a blog entry which outlines the key features and our own personal thoughts on the innovation. I hope that this will broaden my awareness and skills associated with the use of technology and enable me to become an adept ‘blogger’.
